History

Bulkington Netball was started in 1975 when a group of women who lived locally decided to get together for some exercise and a ‘night out’.  They then thought about starting a netball team… some had not played netball since schooldays.  One of the women was on the Committee of the Bulkington Sports and Social Club and arranged for court facilities with the local Council to be made available at the Recreational Ground in Bulkington.

After a short while they decided to join the league.

One team was entered in 1976 and a couple of seasons later they entered a second team.

From such a small beginning, Bulkington Netball has since gone from strength to strength having 5 teams for the past few seasons as well as a very popular and successful Junior section.

Bulkington Netball Club currently runs 4 senior teams – 2 in Premier Division, Division 1 & Division 4, aswell as Junior teams in the following age groups: Under 12's, Under 13's, Under 14's and Under 16's. (Junior section currently welcoming any new players). The majority of our juniors being successfully integrated into Senior teams - and competing extremely well with the senior players!

The Club benefits from experienced coaches in Sarah (level 2 qualified coach), Jackie (in the process of taking her level 3 qualification).

Several of our club members form part of the Coventry & Warwickshire League Committee (or sub committee) and as a club, the experience these individuals pass on is tremendous.

Janet Greenway provides a link to the Bulkington Sports and Social club, and has been a valued member of the club since it's beginnings. Janet has provided a great deal of support to individual teams, players, and committee members over the years - aswell as being responsible for fancy dress costumes, scarves and mittens!.... infact the photo below has also been provided by Janet from 'back in the day'..... enjoy!
