B Team | Match Reports 27th February 2010 Opposition: Highway A
Final Score: 46 - 35 (win)
Players Player:
Before the game, Bulkington B had nothing to lose with the last few games lost and heads were down, so we decided not to put any pressure on ourselves as Highway have lost no games and are on top of the league, but we all had a positive feeling about the game in hand. The first quarter saw Bulkington break Highway's first centre pass and to lead the entire quarter. The opposition was strong but out attack were working together to give good strong feeds into the shooters and with confidence the goals were going in by Sue (GA) and Courtney (GS) who stepped up to fill SJ's shoes. Team talk after the first quarter was to keep playing our own game, individual tactics were discussed but we went into the second quarter with our spirits high. Again, Bulkington broke down the first centre and managed to turn the ball around. Kim (GK) was on fire, tips left, right and centre which led the defence - Stacie (GD) and Amy (WD) being able to turn the ball around confidently. he defence continued to work hard with talking and good interaction from Kim and Stacie. Amy and Tracey (C) challenged the centre court and whilst Highway's centre court was strong, they both continued to overpower with their strength, speed and experience. Jen (WA) continued to drive to the top of the circle and fed in some excellent balls knowing where her atrack were at all times to ensure she was in the best position. It was a close game throughout with Bulkington leading on average by 6 goals in each quarter. Once again in the third quarter Bulkington broke Highway's first centre pass and scored from it. The last quarter saw the B team pulling together and working together to steadily work the ball up the court, taking time to ensure there was a goal at the end of it. The last quarter was very tense with Highway creeping back to within 2 goals, however Bulkington worked immensely hard to keep the ball and pressurise the opposition when they had the ball to ensure that we kept the lead. The final score saw Bulkington win 46-35! It was a great game to play and watch by our supportes and coaches. A massive team effort from all the team players. Players player goes to Sue (GA) for her continued efforts of dominating the oppositions defence and her excellent shooting skills. Very proud of the team today, everyone played so hard and fought so hard, so lets continue to work hard and play hard girls! Thank you to all that supported from the sidelines and thank you to Rosie and Abi for coaching!. Back to B Team's 'Match reports' |
