C Team | Match Reports 15th March 2010 Opposition: Hinckley
Final Score: 43 - 23 (win)
Players Player: Kerrie West
Welcome back Franny! Our super GS is back in action, and what a game to come back into..... After a couple of illness calls in the day - we managed to arrive at Caludon Castle for our evening game with a whole 7 players and even 2 reserves! The game started slowly with the teams going goal for goal. A shaky start for both sides with bits of footwork called and some dodgy balls coming down the court... Our attack took time to settle (as it had been a while playing in our set positions). By the end of the first quarter we had started to get into our stride, and in the last few minutes managed to snatch a 2 goal lead. The second quarter Bulkington really started to motor. The defence we getting lots of tips, and we were bringing the ball down the court really well. Lisa was still on court, but had already warned Mel to warm up a half time after suffering with evening sickness. She worked tirelessly as ever to service the shooters and worked really well with Lindsey showing patience and accurate play. At half time we had established a good lead of 22 - 9 (Hinckly only scoring 2 goals thanks to our fab defence!) Half time say team changes, and Mel coming onto the court at WA. Lindsey therefore moved to C. We took a little while to get used to the new line up - and Kerrie quite liked coming further up the court to assist! Lindsey played really well at Centre and worked hard to keep moving up and down the court. Mel played deep into the attack, but this worked well as she hit the corners and fed the ball into the circle. Shots were flying in - and any that didn't were being picked up by Fran. We went into the fourth quarter leading 34 - 14, and confident. Unfortunately a few errors did slip in and a few forced balls meant that we did not capitalise on every opportunity. However, the defence continued to play fabulously well, which meant that we still scored 10 goals in the last quarter. A bit shy of our target - but still a good win all in all. A great team performance, and with only 2 games left for the season, we can feel confident that should have now secured a mid-table position! You never know - we could even get wins against Ardern Ladies and Highway.... if we keep our cool - and our heads! Come on girls- lets finish the season in style! Well done all Thanks to Mel and Ang for reserving - and Shane for spectating!
