28th September v Bluetits

Match Report:

Bulkington began their Wednesday County League Campaign with a difficult fixture against Bluetits.  The team looked a lot different to last year with the starting line up as follows:

GS Rhian, GA Jess, WA Laura, C Amz, WD Super Stacie, GD Suebo, GK Jo New

Due to the unavailability of Courtney, Rhian was literally thrown in the deep end and playing GS!She certainly proved her worth and put in an excellent performance worthy of any GS.  Although slightly nervous to begin with, once she got her eye in anyone there could have easily been fooled this was her natural position.  Jess put in another excellent performance showing why she got Players Player last season.  Moaning prior to the start about her lack of fitness, at the end she was the least red faced out of everyone!! She worked tirelessly throughout and showed why we are desparate for her to quit her Saturday job!!  Laura and Stacie were both playing their first games for Bulko for a year or so following Stacie finishing Uni and laura moving back home! They both played brilliant and showed what assets they are to the club!!

A special mention must got to Stacie as I forgot to put her on the newsletter! WHAT A HERO...Welcome back Stacie!!!!

Suebo played, quote; 'The hardest GA I think Ive ever played.'  The Bluetits GA managed to command the attack and coach the players at the same time and was very experienced and a fantastic player.  Suebo never once looked out of the game though. She put in the standard Suebo 110% and never gave up!!  Jo was playing her first ever game for Bulkington (Hopefully the first of many :)) She got some amazing tips throughout the game and worked well with Suebo to make life difficult for the Bluetits attack!

The game....

Well what a close fought match, Bulkington began slowly taking a few minutes to gel and ended the first half about 5 goals down.  The second half showed much more fight from the new look team and allowed them to come back, at one point being 1 goal up! Bulkington were unlucky to lose by 2 goals with Bluetits having the edge of fitness over Bulkington.

It must be said this was a fantastic result as following the game a bit of research proved that the team represented by Bluetits are a Regional side and had trials for the National League at the end of last season!!! So what a great result!!!

Thanks to Jacks, Mandie and Yvonne for their continued support, coaching and scoring at the games, making it possible for us to play :) xxx
